Superstar:
Karen Anne Carpenter was born on March, 1950 in New Haven Connecticut. Little did her parents know that they were raising the greatest female singers of all times. On April 22, 1969 Herb Albert, co-founder of A & M records, signed the Carpenters aboard after listening to Karen sing. In just one year Richard and Karen achieved their first gold record: "Close To You." The song (They Long To Be) climbed national charts everywhere. In the Billboard magazine an article gave a review of the Carpenters. It described Karen as "Richard chubby sister." From the article and psychological problems developed from her realtionship with her mother, Karen developed the disease Anorexia Nervosa. Anorexia is an eating disorder where a person practically starves themselves to death believing they are fat no matter how much weight they loose. To Karen, Anorexia gave her a sense of control through believing that she could regulate her weight. In a very scaty ironic way it did the exact opposite. Before Karen's time, doctors knew very little of this mysteriuos starvation disease. The fame of Carpenters gave this disorder the attention that it needed. Though Karen finally overcame Anorexia, her body still had the damaging effects from it. She died of heart failure February 4, 1983 in her parent's home in Downey California. Karen now lies at rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park but her legacy continues to live in hearts everywhere. |

I called her "Debbie-the-Angel"... ![]() Debbie was born in Boston from a family that came from Ireland and Italy. Her father left the seminary to fight for the war. When WWII was over, he came back to the family with mentally ill and alcoholic. From childhood to her teenager, with her mother and her sister, living in the poverty, and fear of the social diversities, Debbie discovered the beautiful music of Karen and became a member of a Karen fan club. Her love to Karen helped her to go through those hard years. Debbie has an ability to write (a contribution to Hall Marks at a time) and a great love for Karen. She believes that "Karen was a beautiful person and God gifted her with a wonderful talent." I am so glad and excited to have a new friend like Debbie to be my associate for the Karen and The K.C.A.C. page. Unfortunately, for years working with electronic, Debbie was exposed to the methyl ketone and became mentally ill. She had been sicker and sicker everyday after the leaving of her father five years ago. For a while, she stopped a regular eating. Having a lump in the chest to be rmoved, Debbie health is currently in a danger and very fragile state... As a member and on behalf of the K.C.A.C., I have tried to comfort Debbie the best I can and since the motto of the K.C.A.C. is "All Karen lovers are our friends-Jalene has said", I love to have audiences of the K.C.A.C. page, the Karen lovers giving Debbie and her family a support to fight over her sickness... Your support to Debbie is also a great contribution to the Karen and K.C.A.C. page -- With all my heart, thanks--Don
